What is a bridge holiday?
When only one or two workdays sit between a public holiday and the weekend, taking those days as leave gives you one long break. That is a bridge holiday. The leave suggestions here cover gaps of one or two workdays only, and only stretches that include at least one public holiday.
How this is calculated, and what to watch for
- Holidays are those of government offices. Private employers may set their days off differently under their work rules.
- Temporary public holidays are declared by the government at short notice, so they cannot be predicted. New ones are added once confirmed.
- Check your team schedule and your employer's leave rules before you book leave.
