How to use the planner
- Leave days left: enter how many days of annual leave you can still use, from 1 to 25. Half days are not counted.
- Start date: only breaks from this date on are considered. It defaults to today, and leave is planned up to December 31 of the same year. If a year-end break runs into January, those days are counted too.
- Weekends: if you work shifts or in retail and are not off on weekends, choose 'I work on weekends'. Only public holidays will count as days off.
How the plans are chosen
The planner first finds every stretch of days off made of weekends and public holidays. When only a few workdays sit between two stretches, taking those days as leave joins them into one long break. It collects every such break, using at most five days of leave (one working week) at a time.
It then picks breaks that do not overlap and finds the combination with the most days off that fits within your leave. When two combinations give the same number of days off, the one that uses less leave comes first. Plans 1 to 3 are the top three combinations, and the table below lists every single break you could take.
For example, from January 1, 2026 with three days of leave, taking February 19 and 20 after the Seollal holiday gives nine days off from February 14 to 22, and taking May 4 between Labor Day and Children's Day gives five days from May 1 to 5 — fourteen days off in total.
Value or length?
The value score is days off divided by leave days used. One day of leave for five days off is 5.0×; four days of leave for ten days off is 2.5×. If you have little leave left, pick the breaks with the highest value. If you have plenty and want a long trip, pick the longest break.
Before you book
- The dates follow South Korea's official holidays for government offices. Private employers may set days off differently in their work rules.
- Under the Labor Standards Act, workers who attend at least 80% of a year get 15 days of annual leave, rising by one day every two years after three years of service, up to 25 days. Check when unused leave expires at your company.
- Colleagues often take the same days around long weekends. Agree on schedules with your team before you apply.
- Temporary holidays are declared separately by the government and cannot be known in advance. We add them when announced, and the plans update with them. (2027 election days and temporary holidays are not included)
